It’s not wrong that in kids soccer drills, coaches are very much responsible for the downfall of the players as a team because of some errors. And it’s absolutely right. Lot of people must be busy finding out the big reason responsible for a team’s such great downfall. Well then, the bad news is that they are many.
To take steps pertaining to soccer drills for kids, be very alert and calculative. You need to understand the psychology of the kids. Communicate with them in a way that suits their age level. But unfortunately, many coaches are unprepared to adjust to it. They fail to realize that there is a distinction in coaching kids and coaching grown-up players.
So this is it; let me share some blunders that coaches make which reduce their teams to rubble.
1. To many coaches, their job appears to be very simple. They are not punctual, fail to organize the drills, and don’t think it’s important to plan the sessions. Activities like these not merely put off the kids but are also terrible. Kids take soccer very seriously and so should you. Youth soccer drills should be pre-planned. If you need certain equipment to carry out the drills, arrange it before hand.
Don’t be late. Don’t be the one to reach the field later than the kids. Actually, be there when the kids get there. It has the advantage of finding some extra time to practice the drills and plan other things.
2. Before the sessions, when the coaches impart instructions for kids soccer drills, they get so lost in it so as to loose track of the time. Can you believe how boring that can be? You must appreciate that kids are more eager to play than hearing long speeches. Keep your words of wisdom brief and straight forward. Use these sessions in a way that the kids get inspired to play and enjoy the game.
It is extremely vital that the kids are not interrupted while playing. If the kids do anything incorrectly, make a note of it and share it afterwards. Also, you should be outside the field when the kids are enjoying the game.
3. Some coaches use foul language with the young players. In soccer drills for youth, this can prove to be catastrophic. It is never a good idea to show your emotions on the field. It is imperative that the kids will make mistakes. Never forget that they are very young. Never take things very critically and make it an excuse to get bad with the players.
If this happens, you can drive the kids away from the game. Soccer is a game of the mind. When you help the kids know the meaning of it, they will love the game.
