This is an easy way to explain the role of free soccer drills to the players. No specific rules exist. Being the coach you have the freedom to innovate and make your own drills and games.
For your own specific requirements the existing soccer exercises can be altered. For starters I have shared my experiences for forming a creative soccer training program.
Your plan shouldn’t be rigid. All the plans need not materialize as planned. The kids will be absent only when it rains or get sick. All these are possible obstructers so make enough arrangements to cover them.
It works well to have several soccer practice games ready. If there is any delay in executing the plan you can go to the next item by deleting it. Don’t enforce anything, just do what the kids like, you will soon realize what works with them.
All the kids should warm up before any practice session. Apart from the regular soccer drills that warm up the body, make them use the soccer ball as well. The kids can rotate the ball between their feet’s; kick the ball back and forth using their feet.
There is plenty of free soccer drills which are fun yet can be used for warm up activity.
It is important that every player has a soccer ball each. Plan for several activities which are individualistic in nature; which can be performed using the ball. The players should practice shooting, dribbling and hitting the ball against the wall etc. In order to prevent any restriction in movement of the players avoid using any lines or marks.
Upon completion of individual activities in soccer coaching the players should be involved in some group activities. The drills like passing and receiving the balls are lot of fun. Without a goal keeper the kids should play soccer in teams. Don’t set boundaries for this game and allow the players to hit the goals.
Teach the players to first attack and then to defend. The players will learn a lot of individualistic skills in this coaching style.
It is necessary that the kids act as a team in group activities. Usually, when shifting from individual to group activities, the kids take time to adjust to the concept of team play. A coach plays a guiding role here.
Make them realize the concept of interdependence to win matches. The players learn to work as a team, practice in a limited area while not doing much the ball, this is the biggest impact of this drill.
This is the easiest way to conduct a soccer exercise. Be innovative and integrate different free soccer drills which will be helpful to the kids to learn.
