I don’t know a thing about you but I’ll bet that you are in the same boat as I when it comes to drills for soccer. Coaches like us have to go through a tough time whenever we are to observe and devise soccer drills.
There are so many things to look after like the ensuring maximum output from every practice sessions, involving the parents in the training schedule to enable them to keep the kids focused at home, or the fact that players must remain fit all the time.
This is a problem of lack of organized information. Modern soccer calls for a hundred percent commitment from us towards our goals. We also need to innovate and think a lot a lot about how we can improve the skills of the players. But there are no updates and insights available on the same.
Hence let me discuss with you a few tactics that are sure to address some of your queries. I’m sure you know it already that the main ingredient in making a great team is players with good bodies. Incorporate various drills that deal with building player’s stamina and using their energy productively. The players must be excellent sprinters and should also be great at dribbling the ball. As a result, it’s a good idea to create a drill that makes them run around with the ball. Assume and achieve!
Organize your practice sessions ahead and then put them into action with great precision. The total time available for practicing drills for soccer is limited with kids, so use it efficiently. When you plan the sessions in advance, document them correctly, and narrate them with perfection, training becomes a real joy.
Make yourself and your drills interesting. If the kids start enjoying your company and have fun with team members while practicing, they’re sure to excel. This is what determines your success as a coach. Wittiness keeps the kids happy and therefore it should be your objective to see that the soccer exercises are fun.
If your intention is to make the kids great at certain skills, have them practice day and night. Practice is the key here as this is what makes the players better. Make sure that they get the techniques right.
When the technique is wrong, it will not bring the desired result. Also, the kids will get used to practicing drills incorrectly which is suicidal.
Counseling the kids before and after a soccer practice session makes them stay on the right track. However, do not make these sessions very elaborate. Keep the talk focused on important points and then end the session.
If not, the kids will get bored and quite possibly feel de-motivated. Brief and short sessions are important here.
