When it comes to kid’s training for soccer, two types of stretching i.e. static and dynamic stretching are included in it.

Static stretching requires players to stretch their muscles to a point of resistance and hold for a given duration of time. Recurring motions, rebounding, and rhythmic bouncing are performed by the players while doing dynamic stretching. Generally, static stretching is considered as more effective and involves less risk than dynamic stretching.

Stretching influences flexibility: Stretching puts off the loss of flexibility. However, the support is more convincing for a long-term stretching line up than for shorter periods of time.

Stretching a few minutes prior to any event is likely to increase flexibility. But, of all the soccer training tips, the best is where stretching program is extended over a longer period of time that constantly improves the player’s range of motion.

Stretching perks up performance: When stretching program is designed specifically to suit soccer needs of the players, their performance improves.

Stretching can be a lot of fun: For this, you need to add variety in your soccer drills and focus a lot on performing them. Keep changing the type of warm up exercises that you perform before stretching. Try tag games, ball tag, and keep away.

For a majority of kids, one stretch of15-30 minutes is sufficient for each muscle group but some kids may take longer stretches or more repetitions.

Generally, players who exercise an active warm-up prior to stretching get a better range of motion than those who only stretch. So if injury prevention is your aim, stop stretching before exercise and increase the warm up time.

Inspire the players to learn soccer skills through participation, demonstration, and guidance. The learning process comes to a conclusion only when kids apply what they have learnt and has been shown to them. Learning requires active experience and not just plain teaching.

Imagination: Make situations that challenge the player’s imaginations, bring them pleasure in performing tasks, and serve important game drills. Encourage the players to make situations more interesting and worthwhile.

It’s not enough just to provide the parents with the brochure, “parental responsibilities” at the beginning of the term. An effective strategy would be is to have regular meetings with them to remind them the essential points and share problems.

Future soccer coaches: A vital part of your philosophy should not just focus on developing the players, but also the coaches. You may try if one of your kid’s parents can become a soccer coach? They are the perfect choice for this job, and could be tried in the future.

Selection: Players with great soccer skills drop out mainly due to non-selection. According to studies, players say they would rather get selected for a bad team than not getting selected for a good team. Therefore, use a logical selection system which gives all players equal game time.

Time: The session should be started on time and the parents should also be told to be on time. The start and finish times that are clearly defined make for an effective session.

Excitement: Is it necessary that every soccer coaching session should be fun? You must definitely try to make each session a delight for the kids but then, its not possible all the time. So adopt “excitement” as a substitute for this.

When you train the kids, it is perfectly natural that coaches have problems coming up with different ideas on how to make sessions fun. As such, the biggest hurdle that the coaches face is with regard to the creativity aspect of coming up with fun drills every now and then.

Success windows: Make an effort to create a success window for the season as an important part of your training. This needs you to determine a lower limit and an upper limit of time with a view to measure the level of success that needs to be achieved.

As an example, time frame of minimum four and maximum eight weeks. This can be done for both team as well as individual team members.

Let me ask you a simple question. Many soccer coaches design their player’s training programs without considering the soccer training tips only to go through the motions and make up the numbers. Do you find yourself doing the same thing?

Before planning your next training session, set some goals for the team. Decide on what you wish to achieve from the training program and then take all steps necessary to realize your goals.

Add to your training program such soccer drills that are new, innovative, and fun to perform so as to add variety. It will break the monotony of doing the same drills day in and day out. You’ll notice a positive change in your kid’s performance once they begin to enjoy their training sessions.

Regardless of the level at which they play and their age, your players need to learn to listen to you and give due respect. Respecting each other feelings promotes a friendly atmosphere for both the kids as well as the coach.

Soccer players can greatly benefit from having a high level of flexibility. It has been divided into 3 categories.

Dynamic flexibility: Just like twisting from one side to another, it’s the player’s ability to carry out brisk movements within the full range of motion in the joint.

Static active flexibility: The ability to stretch a tough muscle by using the tension within that muscle is termed as static active flexibility. Holding one leg out in front of you as high as possible is an example of this. Doing this your hamstring is stretched and as the hip flexors and quadriceps grip your leg up.

Static passive: It is the ability to hold a stretch using your body weight or some other external force. For example; picture yourself holding your leg out in front of you and relaxing it on a chair.

Now let’s advance towards the next stage in the line of soccer training tips. It requires you to check that kids are wearing an appropriate gear, depending on the weather conditions.

Training for soccer should be complemented by a fitness program that is designed to identify and improve upon the weak areas. One should keep the following factors in mind while designing such a training program.

Age of the player: With age, there is a decrease in the flexibility of soft tissues in the body that is directly related to the reduced range of movement, no matter what the gender. Even though, the more we remain active, the lesser are the chances of flexibility decreasing.

Gender: Girls exhibit a greater range of movement, independent of their age.

Action: Active kids are always better at performing soccer skills and exhibiting a greater range of movement that the inactive kids.

Injury: Injuries also impede the range of motion in a joint.

Pain: With an increase in pain, flexibility decreases resulting in muscle spasms. On the other hand, strength training does not affect flexibility if you are doing the exercises correctly and in full range of motion.

Genetics: The amount of flexibility that a player possesses also depends upon his genetics.
